Seed Program Provides $100 Seed Discounts to Indiana Corn Members PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 17 February 2010

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., (February 17, 2010) — Indiana corn farmers can now receive $100 discounts on their 2010 seed purchase by renewing their existing three-year memberships or by becoming new three-year members of Indiana Corn Growers Association (ICGA). The cost of renewing or becoming a new 3-year member of ICGA is $150.

This new seed program offers a $100 discount on a future seed purchase of at least 20 units for seed corn purchased in the 2010 calendar year from these participating companies:

·         AgriGold

·         Beck’s Hybrids

·         Dekalb

·         Great Lakes Hybrids

·         LG Seeds

·         Stewart Seeds

·         Seed Consultants

“These discounts will help offset the cost of seed this season while also allowing farmers to become a member of an organization working to improve the viability of corn around the state,” said Gary Lamie, ICGA president and farmer from West Point, Ind. “It is essential that farmers become involved in groups such as this, so we can provide a voice for the industry we work in.  Through policy representation and advocacy work, ICGA really allows that to happen.”

Along with the $100 seed discount, farmers can enjoy additional perks of becoming members of ICGA. First and foremost, ICGA members are also members of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA). Members can also take advantage of special discounts through Ford, Lincoln, Volvo, Dell, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, and Cabela’s to name a few.  Members will also have the opportunity to attend Commodity Classic for less, apply for $1000 one-year scholarships and take part in the annual National Corn Yield Contest.

“ICGA ensures a voice for Indiana corn farmers and our industry at the local, state, and national levels,” said Lamie. “Each year we are present at the Indiana State House talking to legislators about issues important to corn farmers and our industry. We also travel to Washington D.C. to represent our industry in our state Senate and Congressional offices.”
