Indiana Corn Farmers Applaud Signing of Farmland Property Tax Reform Bill
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 8, 2016) – Mike Nichols, a farmer from Spencer County, and president of the Indiana Corn Growers Association, issued this statement following Governor Pence’s signing ceremony for SEA 308, reforming farmland property taxes in the state:
“We thank Governor Pence and the members of the General Assembly for enacting this critical legislation for Indiana farmers. Due to a broken formula, our property taxes continue to rise while our net income has fallen dramatically. This is not a special break or a handout, it is bringing the formula more in line with the economic conditions facing Indiana farmers. Farmers thank the Governor and legislators for this critical law.”
The ICGA board, which works with the state and federal governments to develop and promote sound policies that benefit Indiana corn farmers, consists of 15 farmer-directors who provide leadership to the organization on behalf of the nearly 600 ICGA members statewide.
